31.4% of purchases during the last CyberMonday were trips for January and February. Punta Cana, Cancún and Florianópolis lead, and people are booking more than 90 days ahead. What that means if your class or your family has not booked yet.
Summer 2027 still looks far away on the calendar, but not in the bookings. Figures from the last CyberMonday show that 31.4% of purchases were trips for January and February 2027 — 4.2 points more than the year before — and that summer reservations grew 36.4% compared with the same event in 2025.
Put another way: while many people still think of the holidays as something to sort out in December, a good share of the summer has already been sold.
Where Chileans are going
This summer's ranking breaks into four blocks:
- The Caribbean: Punta Cana, Cancún and Playa del Carmen. Punta Cana grew 40.1% year on year - Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, Florianópolis and Camboriú. Florianópolis was up 27.8% - South America: Lima and Buenos Aires still lead regional travel - Europe: Madrid tops the long-haul quotes
Two figures break the pattern. Cartagena de Indias grew 122.5% in a year, and Punta Arenas 75.1%: in the same summer the Caribbean is booming, Chilean Patagonia is growing faster than almost every international destination.

The figure that matters most: 90 days
Average planning for summer 2027 is running at more than 90 days in advance. That is not an industry detail: it is the concrete difference between choosing and settling.
Anyone booking three months out or more still has hotels available, reasonable airfares and room to build the trip around what they want. Anyone deciding in December buys what is left, and usually pays more for it.
It is exactly what we see every year with study trips, only on a larger scale: a class that starts organising 18 to 24 months ahead gets better hotels and lower instalments than one starting in August of the previous year.
What changes depending on who you travel with
The data also shows the destination depends on the group. Families concentrate in all-inclusive hotels in the Caribbean, above all Punta Cana and Mexico. Couples choose Florianópolis, Camboriú and city breaks in South America and Europe.
For school groups the logic is different: it is not about picking the destination of the moment, but the one that works with forty teenagers, full board, staff on site and insurance that answers at three in the morning.
If you have not booked yet
Our advice is the same as always, and this year's data backs it up: plan ahead. In October you still choose. In December you adapt.
